From Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, SECAS next moved to Allahabad. It was welcomed by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, District Magistrate, Allahabad. Mr. Dilip Surkar, ED, VASCSC, was also present during the welcome ceremony. Later, during the day, Mr. Dilip Surkar interacted with the on-board team and encouraged them for the journey ahead.

At Allahabad, SECAS received some of the distinguished guests which included Mr. Arun Saxena, General Manager, North Central Railways, Mr. V. K. Tripathi, DRM, Allahabad Division and Prof. Krishna Mishra, Chairperson, STEM, DST and IIIT, Allahabad. They not appreciated the efforts of Government in spreading awareness on Climate Change through Science Express but also the zest of the team behind the project especially the Science Communicators. Teams from National Innovation Foundation, (NIF), U.P. Pollution Control Board and Indian Institute of Geomagnetism also extended their support in coordination of SECAS activities at Allahabad.

Allahabad turned out to be a landmark station, with SECAS receiving over 1 lakh visitors in four days – the highest number for any station, in the current phase. Additionally, it also created the record of registering highest number of participants (3,361) in Platform Activity, in a single day. On the last day of its halt, SECAS also registered highest number of general visitors (31,755), in a single day. At Allahabad, SECAS crossed 7 lakh total visitors’ mark and Science Express, cumulative of all the phases (Phase I-VIII), crossed 1.40 crore total visitors’ mark.

After a successful four-day halt at Allahabad, SECAS team once again packed up and made preparation for their departure to the next station -Basti in Uttar Pradesh.
