From Mangaluru, SECAS next moved to Ashokapuram in Karnataka. It was welcomed by Mr. S. Venkatesan, Executive Director, Mysore Zoo. He also visited the exhibition and appreciated the efforts on the on-board team, in spreading awareness about Climate Change among the children.

During the four-day exhibition at Ashokapuram, a total of 31,386 people visited SECAS. Because of the ongoing exams in schools and colleges, the number of students visiting SECAS was less. However, a good number of general visitors, including children accompanied by their parents, came to see the exhibition.

Apart from the exhibition, children also enthusiastically participated in the complementary activities of SECAS in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and on the Platform. Additionally, SECAS team also conducted three Teachers Orientation sessions emphasizing on ‘Natural Science and its Application in Skill Acquisition’, ‘Environmental Science’, ‘Climatology’ and ‘Hands-on Approaches for Teaching Science and Maths’.

Mr. K. H. Vinaya Kumar, IFS, Director, Environmental Management & Policy Research Institute (EMPRI), Benguluru, visited SECAS at Ashokapuram and shared his experiences with the on-board SECAS team. Besides, on the last day, Mr. U. Subba Rao, Chief Workshop Manager, South Western Railways, Mysore, also visited SECAS and appreciated the efforts of the team.

At Ashokapuram, Kids Zone crossed 60,000 children’ participation in the current phase of SECAS and cumulatively, since its launch in the year 2013, it also crossed 1.6 lakh children’s participation. Besides, the Platform Activity also crossed 1.6 lakh students’ participation, in the current phase, till date.

Team from ENVIS centre, Bengaluru, extended their support in conducting Platform Activity at Ashokapuram.

After a successful four-day exhibition at Ashokapuram, SECAS team once again packed up and made preparations for their journey to the next station – Hospet in Karnataka.
