From Allahabad, SECAS next moved to Basti in Uttar Pradesh. It was welcomed by was welcomed by Mr. Harish Dwivedi, Member of Parliament, Basti, along with Mr. Anil Kumar Damele, District Magistrate, Basti and Mr. Shiv Hari Meena, Superintendent of Police, Basti.

Dr. A. B. P. Mishra, Scientist, NCSTC, DST, Mr. A. K. Shrivastav, U. P. Pollution Control Board, and several other Railway officials from New Lucknow Division, NER, were also present during the welcome ceremony.

Altogether in three-days, SECAS received over 77,000 visitors at Basti, which also included over 18,000 students from 143 different educational institutions. Besides, SECAS crossed 8.5 lakh total visitors’ mark, 70,000 students’ participation in Platform Activity and 25,000 children’s participation in the Kids Zone in the current phase. Additionally, Science Express, cumulative of all its phases (Phase I-VIII) also crossed 1.41 crore visitors’ mark.

On the last day of the halt, SECAS team also conducted an Outreach Activity at Jagran Public School, Basti, in which different aspects of Climate Change and its mitigation measures were discussed along with a ‘Science Show’.

At Basti, Dr. Mridal Shukla, Scientific Technical Officer, National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow also visited SECAS and shared his experiences and knowledge in the field of Plant Taxonomy with Science Communicators.

After a successful three-day halt at Basti, SECAS team once again packed up and made preparation for their departure to the next station – New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.
