Students understanding centre of gravity in JOS Lab

During its three-day halt at Bilaspur, SECAS received an overwhelming response with over 41,000 people visiting the exhibition train. Students from 129 schools and colleges visited SECAS in three-days and actively participated in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and Platform Activities. SECAS team also conducted Outreach Activities at 7 different schools of Bilaspur, in which the team gave an overview of SECAS, its coach content and demonstrated different concepts of science using models and activities.

On the second day at Bilaspur, SECAS team celebrated ‘World Wetland Day’ by conducting different activities at the platform which included a pictorial presentation on ‘Wetland of India’ and discussion about their importance and the need for their conservation. It was followed by a quiz competition on ‘Wetlands’ and essay writing on ‘Importance of Birds’ for the students in which the winners were felicitated by the team.

Bilaspur turned out to be a milestone as SECAS crossed 12 lakh total visitors and 7 lakh general visitors’ mark. Besides, Platform Activity crossed 95,000 students’ participation & Outreach Activity crossed 15,000 students’ participation in the current phase. Additionally, Science Express, cumulative of all its phases (Phase I-VIII) crossed 1.45 crore total visitors, 1 crore general visitors and 1.5 lakh students’ participation in Outreach Activity and also successfully completed 1,500 days.

SECAS team received support from Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Raipur and National Innovation Foundation (NIF) in coordination of its activities at Bilaspur.

After a successful three-day halt at Bilaspur, the team once again packed up and made preparations for their journey to the next station – Kumhari in Chhattisgarh.
