Due to the ongoing exams in schools and colleges, SECAS registered less number of students and teachers. However, on all four days, good number of general public including children accompanied by their parents and guardians visited SECAS. Apart from the exhibition, children also enjoyed participating in activities of JOS Lab, Kids Zone and Platform Activities. SECAS team also conducted a Teachers’ Orientation session for a group of teachers from DIET focusing on ‘Hands-on Approaches’ for teaching science and maths. It was very much appreciated by the participants.

At Changanasseri, SECAS team celebrated ‘Earth Hour Day’ on 19 March, by conducting activities like ‘Paint the wall with your Pledge’, quiz and elocution competitions on ‘Earth Hour’ and ‘Climate Change’. A thought provoking video on ‘Change the Climate Change’ was also showed to the students.

Besides, on the last day of the halt, SECAS team also celebrated ‘World Sparrow Day’ (20 March) by organizing different activities, which included talks and discussions on ‘Importance of Sparrows in Food Chain’ and ‘Reasons for Dwindling Sparrows’. A painting and a quiz competition on ‘Birds of India’ was also held for the students, in which the winners were felicitated by SECAS team. The team also made models of ‘Sparrow House’ and ‘Sparrow Feeder’ which were demonstrated to the students and children.

At Changanasseri, SECAS crossed 60,000 students’ participation in JOS Lab. Additionally, Science Express cumulative of all the phases (Phase I-VIII) crossed 4 lakh students’ participation in JOS Lab and 5.5 lakh students’ participation in Platform Activity.

Team from ENVIS centre, Thiruvananthapuram, extended their support in coordination of SECAS activities at Changanasseri.

After a successful four-day exhibition, the SECAS team once again packed up and made preparations for their journey to the next station – Palakkad in Kerala.
