Platform Activity

During its three day halt at Haridwar, SECAS received over 20,000 visitors. The students enthusiastically participated in the activities of Kids Zone, JOS Lab and at Platform. Team from CEE, Himalayas, extended support to SECAS team in coordinating and conducting its activities. A team from Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, also visited the exhibition train & gave their booklets & posters on ‘Elusive Shadows’, ‘Uttarakhand Birds’ and ‘Field guide of Tigers, Prey and their Habitats’ for distribution as resource materials to the students and teachers visiting the train.

At Haridwar, SECAS team along with a team from CEE planned an extensive Outreach Activity in which they visited schools like Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Madhav Rao Devle Shiksha Mandir, Hari Ram GIC Mayapur, G.G.H.S.S. Wazirabadi, etc. On the last day of the exhibition, the team visited more than 11 educational institutes, in which over 3,800 students participated–the highest in a single day, in the current phase. Additionally, a discussion on ‘Climate Change and Action’ was also conducted at the Ganga Ghat of Haridwar, as part of an Outreach Activity.

At Haridwar, the SECAS team as mark of ‘Big Cat Week’ celebration, organized different activities at the Platform for the students which included Essay Writing competition on ‘Role of Tigers in Ecosystem’, a Quiz competition and a drawing competition on ‘Big Cat’. A short play on ‘Human Wildlife Conflict’ was also enacted by SECAS team members at the platform for the students and general visitors. It was well appreciated by all.

After a successful three-day halt at Haridwar, the SECAS team once again packed up and made preparations for their departure to the next station- Lalkuan in Uttarakhand.
