The next station in the journey of SECAS was Jharsuguda in Odisha. It was welcomed by Dr. Prabash Kumar Singh, Member of Parliament (MP), Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Mr. Navkishor Das, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Jharsuguda & Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager, Jharsuguda. Several other senior Railway officials were also present on the occasion.

Platform Activity

During its two-day halt at Jharsuguda, more than 39,000 visitors, including students from over 135 educational institutions visited SECAS. The response from general visitors was also very encouraging. Apart from the exhibition, the complementary activities of SECAS in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and at the Platform, also received an overwhelming response. On the last day, SECAS team conducted a Teachers’ Orientation session in which ‘Activity-based Learning’ was emphasized upon using different models and activities related to science and maths.

On the last day of the halt at Jharsuguda, SECAS team also celebrated ‘World Leprosy Day’ by conducting discussions about its causes and preventions with students at the platform.

Additionally, at Jharsuguda, SECAS crossed some of the milestones, which included 90,000 students’ participation in Platform Activity; 40,000 students’ participation in JOS Lab; 35,000 children participation in Kids Zone and 500 teachers’ participation in Teachers’ Orientation Program, in the current phase, till date.

SECAS team received support from Centre for Environmental studies (CES), Department of Forest and Environment, Govt. of Odisha, ENVIS Centre and NIF in coordination of its activities.

After a successful two-day halt at Jharsuguda, the team once again packed up and made preparations for their journey to the next station – Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.
