From Bilaspur, SECAS next moved to Kumhari in Chhattisgarh. It was welcomed by Mr. Prem Prakash Pandey, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education, Science & Technology, Disaster Management, Govt. of Chhattisgarh along with Prof. Mukund M. Hambarde, Director General, Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology, Raipur. Mr. Ramesh Gautam, Divisional Railway Manager (Raipur) and Mr. Rajesh Agrawal, IPS, Additional Superintendent of Police, Durg, along with his family, also visited SECAS at Kumhari and appreciated the efforts of the on-board team.

During the four-day halt at Kumhari, more than 47,000 people including over 11,000 students from 147 different educational institutions visited SECAS. The response received from general visitors was also very encouraging.

At Kumhari, apart from the exhibition, the students enthusiastically participated in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and Platform Activity. SECAS team also conducted a Teachers Orientation session for a group of teachers from Runganta College of Science & Technology, Durg, emphasizing on hands-on approaches for teaching science. It was well appreciated by the participants.

SECAS crossed 1 lakh students’ participation in Platform Activity and also crossed visitation by students from 3,000 schools and colleges, in the current phase at Kumhari.

SECAS team celebrated ‘World Cancer Day’ on 4 February, by conducting different activities. The team performed a skit highlighting the causes of cancer in modern life style and also held a discussion on ‘Environmental Carcinogens’ with the students to make them aware of the dangers of carcinogen.

Teams from National Innovation Foundation and ENVIS centre, Raipur extended their support in coordination of SECAS activities at Kumhari.

After a successful four-day halt at Kumhari, the team once again packed up and made preparations for their journey to the next station – Koraput in Odisha.
