The next station in the journey of SECAS II was Chandigarh. SECAS II was welcomed by Prof. S. K. Sharma, Professor Emeritus, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He visited the exhibition train and interacted with the SECAS II team. It was a unique opportunity for the team to meet Prof. Sharma, who shared his experiences with the team and also appreciated their efforts and motivated them for the journey ahead.

SECAS II exhibition was open for the visitors only for two days at Chandigarh, yet a good number of general public including children visited the exhibition train. Altogether in two days, more than 11,000 people visited SECAS II. The complementary activities of SECAS II in Kids Zone, JOS Lab and at the Platform received very good participation. The team also conducted a Teachers Orientation session on the last day of the halt at Chandigarh.

At Chandigarh, SECAS II team also got an opportunity to meet Faculties, Scientists and Researchers from Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. Dr. Satnam Singh, Addl. Director, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology, Chandigarh, along with Dr. S K Saxena, PSO (EVS), also visited SECAS II. A team from Green Care Society, Chandigarh, extended their voluntary support in conducting Platform Activity. They initiated a signature campaign on the platform and also distributed plant saplings to the children.

On 14 March 2017, SECAS II team celebrated ‘Pi Day’ and also the ‘Birth Anniversary Albert Einstein’ by conducting different activities at the platform. They discussed about ‘Albert Einstein and his Contributions to Science’. The team conducted activities like ‘Find the Area of a Circle’, ‘Value of Pi’, ‘Role of Pi in Trigonometry & Geometry’ and ‘Properties of Pi’.

At Chandigarh, SECAS II crossed 500 school/college visit and 5,000 student’s participation in JOS Lab. Additionally, Science Express, cumulative of all its phases (Phase I - IX), crossed 1.58 crore visitations.

After a successful two day halt at Chandigarh, the team once again packed up and started their journey to the next station – Rampur in Uttar Pradesh.
