From Balotra in Rajasthan, SECAS II next moved to Deesa in Gujarat. A message was received from Shri Vijay Rupani, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, welcoming the exhibition train in Gujarat. He appreciated the efforts of the team behind SECAS and hoped that people of Gujarat would visit the train at the respective stations. The message was read out to the team and it added a new zeal and enthusiasm to the team for completing the journey ahead. At Deesa, SECAS II was welcomed by Shri H. L. Raval, District Education Officer, Banaskantha, along with the Station Manager, Deesa.
SECAS II received great response from students and children during three day halt at Deesa. Altogether in three days, more than 27,000 students from 185 different educational institutions visited SECAS II. Along with the exhibition, the complementary activities of SECAS II in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and at the Platform received enthusiastic participation.
SECAS II team conducted Outreach Activities at Govt. Primary School, Govt. Higher Senior Secondary School, Kumbhalgad and VNM primary school, Shivaji nagar, Deesa on first and second day of halt, at Deesa. In these schools, the team gave a small presentation on Science Express and briefed the students about SECAS and its coach contents. Additionally, the team conducted Science Shows where they demonstrated different models and activities based on fundamental concepts of science and even demonstrated activities pertaining to ‘Science behind Miracles’. It was appreciated by the participating students.
At Deesa, SECAS II conducted Teachers Orientation session for a group of Senior Secondary school teachers on second and third day of its halt. In these sessions, the team demonstrated different models based on basic concepts of science and mathematics. SECAS II team emphasized of teaching through ‘Hands-on Approaches’ which will help students to understand the principles in a fun-filled way.
At Deesa, SECAS II received voluntary support from the municipal corporation of Deesa.
At Deesa, SECAS II crossed number of landmarks. SECAS II crossed 22 lakh total visitors mark, 5 lakh students’ visitations and 31,000 teacher’s visitations.
With this, the halt of SECAS II at Deesa came to an end, and the team packed up and made preparations for their departure to the next station – Bhuj in Gujarat.
