From Kasganj City, SECAS II next moved to Khalilabad. It was welcomed by Shri Alok Singh, DRM, Lucknow along with Shri Ramakant Pandey, District Magistrate, Khailabad. Shri Rakesh Kumar Verma, Addl. SP, Sant Kabir Nagar, Dr. ABP Mishra, Scientist, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India & Shri Alok Kumar Srivastava, PRO, LJN, NER were also present on the occasion.
On the second day of the SECAS II exhibition at Khalilabad, Shri Chander Mohan, Head, NCSTC, KIRAN, SEED, DST, Dr. ABP Mishra, Scientist, DST, Shri Dilip Surkar, Director, VASCSC, visited SECAS. They overviewed the functioning of different aspects of SECAS II and appreciated the efforts of the team and motivated them for the journey ahead. A team of officials from the SEED Division of DST, also visited SECAS II and interacted with the on-board team.
SECAS II received a very good response from students as well as general visitors at Khalilabad. Altogether in four days, 49,633 people including students from 89 different educational institutions visited the exhibition train.
During the SECAS II halt at Khalilabad, SECAS II team celebrated ‘World Water Day’, ‘World Metrological Day’ and ‘World Tuberculosis (TB) Day’, by organizing different activities and competitions for students and children at the platform and in JOS Lab.
On ‘World Water Day’ (22 March 2017), a drawing and painting competition on the theme ‘Water Conservation’ was held. Additionally, a slogan writing competition and a Quiz on ‘Water Audit’ was also organized. The visitors and students pledged to save water. The team also showcased a documentary movie on ‘Hidden Forest’ and ‘Water Conservation Techniques’ as part of World Water Day celebration. On the occasion of ‘World Metrological Day’ (23 March 2017), the team made a special cut-out of cloud for the students to take a selfie. The team also discussed about ‘Relevance of World Metrological Day Celebration’, ‘Cloud and their Formation’ and ‘Cloud Atlas’. On ‘World Tuberculosis (TB) Day’ (24 March 2017), the team held discussions about Tuberculosis, its symptoms and causes and how it can be prevented. The students were also briefed about good nutritional foods that help in building immunity to fight against Tuberculosis. A discussion on Robert Koch and his discovery of the cause of tuberculosis that paved the way toward diagnosing and curing tuberculosis was also held with the students. The SECAS II team also performed a skit on the theme ‘Unite to end TB’. It was well appreciated by all.
SECAS II team received support from Kisan Seva Sansthan, Basti, a State agency supported by NSCTC, DST, New Delhi, in coordination of SECAS activities at Kahlilabad. Additionally, they also displayed their mobile exhibition van for the visitors and children at the station.
After a successful four day halt at Khalilabad, the team once again packed up and started their journey to the next station – Mau in Uttar Pradesh.
