From Badarpur, SECAS II next moved to North Lakhimpur. It was welcomed by Shri Mrudul Deka, Station Superintendent, Rangiya Division, NFR, along with other Railway officials. Shri Sudhakar Singh, APS, Superintendent of Police, Shri Barun Bhuyan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Lakhimpur and Col. Tejender Choudhary, visited SECAS II along with their families and appreciated the efforts of the team.
During the three day halt at North Lakhimpur, SECAS II received over 35,000 visitors, including around 8,000 students from 146 schools and colleges. On the last day of the halt, a huge rush of visitors was seen throughout the day and over 21,000 visitors’ came to see the exhibition train.
Apart from the exhibition, the complementary activities of SECAS II in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and Platform Activity also registered good participation. The team conducted Outreach Activities at North Lakhimpur Girls Higher Secondary School, North Lakhimpur Govt. High School, and BBCM Shankar Dev Shishu Vidyaniketan, in which around 2,000 students participated. In the Outreach Activity, the team conducted sessions on ‘Science Behind Miracles’ and ‘Model Rocketry’, which were very much appreciated.
North Lakhimpur turned out to be yet another millstone stations in the journey of SECAS II, as on the last day of the exhibition, it crossed 5.5 lakh total visitors’ mark. It also crossed 70,000 students’ visit, 40,000 students’ participation in Platform Activity and 5,000 students’ participation in Outreach Activity. Additionally, Science Express cumulative of all its phases (Phase I - IX), crossed 16.2 million visitors’ mark.
SECAS II team received support from National Innovation Foundation (NIF) in conducting Platform Activities at North Lakhimpur.
After a successful three day halt at North Lakhimpur, SECAS II team once again packed up and made preparations for their departure to the next station – Rangpara North in Assam.
