From Ratnagiri, SECAS II next moved to Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. It was welcomed by Hon’ble Railway Minister, Shri Suresh Prabhu, through video conferencing. Shri B. B. Nikam, Regional Railway Manager, Konkan Railway, Shri Rangraw Kale, District Education Officer (Secondary Education), and Shri Ramchandra Angare, Deputy Education Officer (Primary Education), Sindhudurg, along with several other officers from the Railways and District Education Department were present on the occasion.

Sindhudurg was a new addition in the list of the scheduled stations of SECAS II, yet a very enthusiastic response was received from the students and general visitors. In just one day of the halt at Sindhudurg, over 13,000 people, including around 4,000 students from 98 different educational institutions visited SECAS II.

Apart from seeing the exhibition, students and children enthusiastically participated in the activities of JOS Lab and Kids Zone. In the JOS Lab, students performed experiments and activities like ‘Working of IR Security System’, ‘Functioning of Metal Detectors’, ‘Clap Bulb’, ‘Wind Mill’, ‘Annual Rings of a Tree’, ‘Magnetic Levitation’, ‘Working of Human Heart’, ‘Pythagoras Theorem’, ‘Topological Puzzle’, ‘Algebraic Equations’ etc. Besides, in the Kids Zone, children enjoyed making science based models like ‘Balloon Spinner’, ‘Fish in the Pot’, ‘Clap in the Air’, ‘Acrobatic Capsule’ and ‘Little Yo-Yo’.

Though Sindhudurg was a new station added to the itinerary of SECAS II, yet it turned out to be a landmark station, with SECAS II crossing 15 lakh total visitors mark. It was a great milestone achieved and the team celebrated it with great enthusiasm.

With this, the halt of SECAS II at Sindhudurg came to a successful end and the team packed up and made preparations for their departure to the next station – Roha in Maharashtra.
