The next station in the journey of SECAS II was Tarn Taran in Punjab. It was welcomed by Dr. Parveen Bansal, Joint Director, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. Mr. Ravi Sher Singh, SM, Tarn Taran along with other officials from the Railways also graced the occasion.
At Tarn Taran, SECAS II received an overwhelming response. Altogether in two days, it received over 13,000 visitors including students from 40 different educational institutions. The complementary activities of SECAS II in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and at the Platform also registered good participation. On the last day of the halt, team SECAS celebrated the National Science Day with full enthusiasm, by organizing different events for the students as part of Platform Activity and in the Kids Zone. They held discussions on ‘Importance of National Science Day’ and ‘Science in day to day Life’ Besides, a drawing and painting competition on the theme ‘Science Around Us’ was also held, in which the students enthusiastically participated. The winners of the competition were felicitated by the team.
SECAS II team also conducted sessions on ‘Science behind Miracles’, as part of Platform Activity at Tarn Taran. The team held discussions on ‘Superstition and Science’, which was followed by demonstration of activities like ‘Fire without Firework’, ‘Exuding Blood from Lemon’, ‘Burning of Coconut’ and ‘Red Scarf in a Coconut’. The SECAS II team also explained the scientific principles behind them. It was very much appreciated by all.
Tarn Taran turned out to be a landmark station in the journey of SECAS II, as on the last day of the exhibition it crossed 1 lakh total visitors’ mark. This achievement was celebrated by the team. With this, the halt of SECAS II at Tarn Taran came to a memorable end, and the team once again packed up and started their journey to the next station –Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
