From Kayankulam, SECAS II next moved to Thrissur. SECAS II was welcomed by Ms. Ajitha Jayarajan, Mayor, along with Dr. Vinay Goyal, IAS, Assistant Collector and Shri Joseph Menon, Station Manager, Thrissur.

At Thrissur, SECAS II exhibition was scheduled for three days. Despite rains, SECAS II received a great response from students, general public and children of different age groups. Altogether in three days of halt, more than 10,500 students from 129 different educational institutions visited SECAS II. Along with the exhibitions train, Kids Zone, JOS Lab, Platform Activity also received good number of participation at Thrissur.

SECAS II team conducted a Teachers Orientation Session for a group of Secondary School Teachers at Thrissur. The on-board team emphasized on ‘Importance of Hands-on Learning’ for teaching Science and Mathematics. The team demonstrated different models like ‘Electrolysis of Water’, ‘Refractometer’, ‘Food Pyramid’, ‘3-D Shapes’ and ‘Balloon Car’. Discussion was also held on topics like ‘Climate Change’, ‘Biodiversity around Us’ and ‘National Policy on Education’, with the participating teachers at Thrissur.

SECAS II team conducted Outreach Activity at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Pavaratty for 2,117 students - the highest in the current phase, till date. The on-board team briefed the participating students about Science Express and themes of its coaches, followed by a session on ‘Model Rocketry’. In this session, the students learnt about the designing of rockets using plastic bottle. A group of students launched some of the rockets and were fascinated to see their models being launched so high. The SECAS II team also held a session for the participating students on ‘Careers in Science and Technology’ and highlighted different scholarship schemes of DST and DBT during graduation and post graduation.

Kerala State Biodiversity Board extended their support in coordination of SECAS II activities at Thrissur.

At Thrissur, SECAS II crossed 14 lakh total visitations’ and 10,000 students’ participation in the Outreach Activity in the current phase.

With this, the halt of SECAS II at Thrissur came to a successful end and the team packed up and made preparations for their departure to the next station – Kannur.
