From Katra, SECAS II next moved to Udhampur. It was welcomed by Mr. Jugal Kishor Gupta, DFO, Udhampur along with Mr. Subash Chandra Dogra, KAS, ADM, Udhampur. Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Project Officer, DRDA, Udhampur, Mr. Bhisham Singh, Chief Education Officer, Udhampur and Mr. Ram Kumar Gupta, Dy. Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, visited SECAS and appreciated the efforts of the team.

Documentary movie on ‘Wildlife Conservation’

A very enthusiastic response was received from the students as well as general visitors at Udhampur. Altogether in two days, students from around 20 different educational institutions visited the exhibition train. The complementary activities of SECAS II in JOS Lab, Kids Zone and at Platform also registered good participation. Additionally, for a group of primary teachers, SECAS II team conducted a session on ‘Non-Conventional Methods of Teaching’. At Udhampur, SECAS II crossed 20,000 student visitors and 10,000 participants in the Platform Activity.

At Katra, SECAS II team conducted interesting sessions on ‘Science behind Miracles’ as part of the Platform Activity. The team members held discussions on ‘Superstition and Science’ and demonstrated activities like ‘Blood exuding Lemon’, ‘Mysterious Scarf in Coconut’, ‘Burning of Coconut without Fire’ and ‘Floating Pot in Air’ and also explained the scientific principles behind them. It was very much appreciated by all.On 03 March 2017, SECAS II team celebrated ‘World Wildlife Day’ as well as the ‘Birth Anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell’ by conducting different activities at the platform and JOS Lab. It included an interesting science talk on ‘Importance of Wildlife Conservation with focus on Dolphins and Vultures’. A documentary movie on ‘Wildlife Conservation’ was also shown to the students in JOS Lab. Besides, an essay competition on ‘A Letter from Wild Life to Human Beings’ was also organized, in which the students creatively highlighted the plight of human-animal conflict. An extempore speech competition on ‘Wildlife Conservation - a need for Human survival’ was also held. Talks on ‘Alexander Graham Bell and his Contributions’ and ‘Evolution of Communication Technology’ were also organized. The students enthusiastically participated in these events. In the end, the winners of these competitions were felicitated by the SECAS team.

On the last day of the halt, in the evening, the team once again packed up and started their journey to the next station – Nangal Dam.
